Information from service records held at the National Archives of Australia Norman Miers enlisted on the 8th September, 1916, at Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. He was employed as a lease holder, and had previously been apprenticed for five years to a mechanical engineer. He stated his next of kin as his friend, Mr. A. B. Robertson, of Edjundini, Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Five feet eleven inches tall, he weighed 191 pounds, had a ruddy complexion, brown eyes and brown hair bald on top, and belonged to the Church of England. He had lost his ring finger on his left hand.
